SB: ArchitecTours 2013 - Urban Living Santa Barbara

  • 05 Oct 2013
  • 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • AIA Santa Barbara, 229 E Victoria St Santa Barbara, CA 93101

ArchitecTours 2013 is focused on Urban Living in Santa Barbara.  The twelve AIA architect-designed projects represent an array of urban living examples, including multifamily, live-work and urban infill residences in close proximity to the downtown corridor.  These Santa Barbara residents have developed a lifestyle less dependent on cars, where they can walk, bike or use nearby public transportation to get to work, schools, shopping, entertainment and recreation.  Tour visitors will hear directly from the architects and their construction teams about the challenges and design approach to this denser and more sustainable urban lifestyle.

The American Institute of Architects Santa Barbara developed this annual architecture tour to showcase the design excellence and relevance of AIA architects' work in our community.  As an example, last year's focus was on projects rebuilt since the Tea and Jesusita fires to demonstrate the design innovations that the architects implemented; tour visitors came away understanding fire-resistant strategies to consider for their own homes.  Join ArchitecTours 2013 to learn about urban living options in Santa Barbara and be sure to enjoy the festive after-party in the Funk Zone!
