  • 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM
  • San Luis Obispo County Library, Community Room, 995 Palm Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401

Come learn more about how to make your school green and make some new friends while you are at it.

Our next meeting is the first Strategic Planning Session for Green Apple Day of Service

We are looking for all community partners from agencies, non-profits, parents, students, teachers, administrators, facilities staff, Cal Poly and Cuesta, industry professional, and anyone having an interest in making our schools a better place for our students to learn. We are starting to meet with local leaders this week and next. We have written the following statement and will be writing a Mayoral and Board of Supervisors Proclamation in the next few days based on this statement.

The California Central Coast Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC-C4) in conjunction with many agencies and community partners is committed to launching a public awareness campaign with the goal of informing parents, teachers, students and communities that the spaces in which we learn matter and that student experiences are enhanced when they take place in healthy, safe, and resource efficient places with integrated curriculum. This will be implemented through the SLO County Green Apple Day of School Responsibility Campaign launched on September 27, 2013. Green Apple Day will be a large scale grassroots effort of coordinated projects at schools throughout San Luis Obispo County.

With 25% of the American population spending time in schools daily, a quality education should be just as much about the school's building quality as it is about the curriculum and professors. Green Apple Day of Service will highlight the  new and on-going efforts of the USGBC-C4, in our own county to improve the quality of education and sustainable life.
