Ventura Monthly Lecture
 “Urbanism is not a four-letter-word”

Please join the California Central Coast Chapter (C4) of the U.S. Green Building Council in Ventura on Monday, July 23rd, at 5:30 PM, when Nick Deitch, one of the leading local architects engaged in preserving and revitalizing neighborhoods and centers of community, will lead an impassioned and engaging dialogue about why good urbanism is essential to our healthy and sustainable future.  The lecture will begin at 6:00 PM after a half hour of informal networking.

Using local project examples to illustrate the benefits of employing “Smart Growth” principles, Mr. Deitch will explore how concepts such as varied building form, a mix of uses, and development density can be employed to enhance community, sense of place, and quality of life.

Nick Deitch is the founding Senior Principal at Mainstreet Architects & Planners in Ventura, with over twenty eight years of professional experience in the fields of architecture and planning.  An active member of the American Planning Association, he works to help bridge communication between Planners and Architects, stressing the importance of Sustainable Community Planning and Building.  Mr. Deitch serves on the faculty at Ventura College and brings a high level of creativity, commitment and enthusiasm to all his endeavors.

The presentation takes place at the Patagonia Firehouse Building, 280 W. Main Street in downtown Ventura on Monday, July 23rd 2012, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm.   The monthly meetings are free and open to the public.
