Speaker Series: Electrification and the 2030 Commitment by Paul Poirier

The Central Coast Green Building Council (CCGBC) & the Ventura College Architecture Department are teaming up to present virtual, monthly, hour-long presentations by professionals within the realm of green building. Join us during this presentation from 6:00pm-7:00pm on April 28th, where CCGBC board member Paul Poirier of Paul Poirier + Associates Architects, will be discussing electrification & the 2030 Commitment. Anyone can attend this free event!

Presentation to provide insights into the AIA 2030 Commitment and Architectural Practice as well as how to sign up for the 2030 Commitment as a transformative tool by the architect in designing architectural buildings. The workshop provides a hands-on review of the Firms Sustainability Action Plan (SAP) and The AIA COTE’s Framework for Design Excellence. Best Practices used to document data used for reporting online in California, i.e., the Design Data Exchange (DDx), use of Zero Tool, et al, and other lessons learned during the process to achieve net-zero carbon and elevated code compliance goals.

Presentation to provide an overview of electrification efforts in California and local efforts on the central coast. What does a zero net carbon building look like? A walkthrough of the recently completed USFS offices in Solvang, California a zero net carbon project. All members of the building industry have an important role to play in mitigating climate change. This session’s content will apply to all types of work: small to large, residential and commercial, interiors and whole building, new construction, and renovation.
