Watershed reVisions: Moving from Hydrophobic to Hydrophilic, October 5th, 7-8pm

Overview of water conservation in the landscape, including rainwater harvesting in the soil and tanks, climate appropriate plants, the American Riviera model, and native meadows. We will more specifically focus on greywater systems, from simpler Laundry to Landscape and branched drain systems that do not use pumps, to more complex systems. Using an example of the particular system at Ann Jaqua's home, the original vision and how we modified it, in part for functionality but also to keep up with the evolution of greywater design and regulations.

1.) Upon completion of this educational event, attendees will have an understanding of the way in which the diversity of water sources in our local area each impact our community and our environment
2.) Get an overview of best practices in rainwater harvesting and stormwater management
3.) Get an overview of best practices for greywater installations
4,) See real life examples of these principles demonstrated on properties in the Santa Barbara area, through photographs in our PowerPoint.
