Leaders of the Green Building Community!

There are several opportunities for board positions to be on the Central Coast Green Building Council. 


While being a board member you will: 

  • Coordinate with other leaders in San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura Counties to advocate for and advance Green Building Initiatives; vastly expanding your network and capacity for outreach. 
    • Lead your community in the efforts through spreading knowledge about green building via outreach. The CCGBC is the hub of sustainable resources, achievements, materials, & design methods.

  • Be a vital component to the decision-making and idea-sharing behind how the CCGBC may carry out our mission of " Making sustainable communities available to everyone within our generation."  

  • Help craft the image and events happening within the local green building sector. 

  • Lobby at a local, state, and national level for greater sustainable initiatives for the building industry. 
Open positions include:
  • President-Elect for 2016 year. : The President-Elect assists the President in setting the agendas, coordinating updates and monthly reports to the Board, and performs other duties as requested by the President. If necessary, the President-Elect stands ready to assume the office of the President. This is a 3-year commitment for the term on the board ( 1 year as President-Elect + 2 years as President).
  • Vice President of Finance: The Vice President of Finance keeps accurate accounts of CCGBC’s finances providing the Board of Directors with financial statements and monthly reports, and coordinating all required tax filings, deposits, disbursements, and compiling an annual financial report as required law. This is a 2-year commitment for the term on the board
  • 2 Board Director positions: Board Member Directors add their valuable insight as voting members. Their role includes the Board Member Responsibilities (see below) and any other committee or general area of interest they choose to put their efforts towards within the CCGBC. This is a 2-year commitment for the term on the board.

Board Member Responsibilities:

  •  Meetings: Attend monthly board meetings (virtual GoToMeetings), plus 1 annual leadership retreat in January. 
  •  Strategic Plan: Actively participate with the Board to set chapter strategic plan, and review with the Board.
  •  Strategic Partnerships: Participate in forming collaborations with other like-minded organizations to further Chapter goals.
  • Financial Oversight: Participate in managing the Chapter’s finances and budget.
  • Fundraising: Help ensure adequate resources for the Chapter, and participate in fostering sponsorship and individual donor opportunities.
  • Committee Liaison: Act as a liaison between the Board and one CCGBC Committee or Regional Council to inform and coordinate work of the Chapter at regional and local levels.
  • Represent the Chapter: at the local and regional events.
  • Time: Monthly commitment from 8-12 hours/month.
  • Term: Two years, unless elected to President-Elect.
